Life is for the living

Well. I’m feeling a need for this outlet again! And it’s because life has bloomed and exploded and grown in ways that have been, at times, hard to synthesize. Or maybe it’s because I got an email that my domain here would expire unless I paid $26, and I don’t want to feel like that…

Obsessive

I’m an obsessive. But a flighty one. Obviously. For a while, I was completely involved in this blog. Playing with the format, figuring out the name, deciding what I wanted to post about, et cetera. After that, I spent a good bit of time futzing around with genealogy. Logan and I did the spit-tests for…

Keeping Happy on National Furminator Day

Things have been down here lately, so I made up a holiday! Here at Cooptown, we celebrated National Furminator Day by… furminating the cats. Surprise! This is Fatty’s contribution to the festivities, after I’d gathered it all up into a ball. I was allergic to cats as a child, but thankfully grew out of it….

Beating up on the DMV

Why is renewing a drivers’ license at the DMV such a stereotypically bad experience? This is even true at the the Travis County DMV, with its new technological innovation that allows you to reserve your place in line ahead of time. It’ll send you text messages updating you on your progress. But the DMV itself…

Monday EarWorm

Hey errbody, it’s the Traditional Monday Earworm! Celebrated by all of the most discerningly irritating cultures, including the 17th century BCE Hittites, the 4th century CE Romans, the mid-18th century French, and (should go without saying, but doesn’t) early 21st century Americans. Oh. It’s possible that video might be considered NSFW if you have a…

The night is an evil, sexy bitch

I know exactly where I went wrong. It’s the same place I always go off the rails. I come home, tipsy after an evening of visiting and chatting and drinking and eating with good friends, and I decide to hop on the computer while drinking a glass of water or two. You know, to metabolize…

On the Agenda: Teen Angst.

I got a personal calendary agenda thing! It’s purple and CUTE and named after Positano. (Here’s big blog stepping in to tell you why that appealed to me so strongly.) Also, every single page inside is more adorable than the last. I can’t wait to ruin it all by writing all over it with my…

Home.

Where the bubbly is plentiful. Logan is cooking up leftovers and pantry stuff and the kitties are most excited to see us. Or smell food. The sunset was gorgeous on the way home.

Roadfood

We’re headed home today, taking the long way through Natchitoches to see more family. We found this place off the side of 190 and just had to stop. We bought spicy boiled green peanuts. They were delicious and soft and reminded me of the texture of the green almonds we ate years ago at the…

A perfect New Orleans morning.

True to form, our perfect Nola morning takes place in the early afternoon. We’re at Morning Call in Metarie, trying their étouffée for the first time and eating all the beignets. There’s powdered sugar all over the table and floor and we love it.
