Unpacking

Man, is it difficult to unpack after a trip. The cats don’t make it any easier, either!

Lazy Sunday

Woke up early because of Daylight Savings Time. Poor Logan has been sick, which is awesome timing since the project he’s working on starts filming tomorrow. He gets to start at 4:30 in the morning! WHEE! We went to Hot Breads, a favorite Indian joint, for dosas and iddli. So you get another picture of…

Halloween!

I’m back from running Halloween-related errands. Our condo never gets trick-or-treaters, so I’m going to Crystal’s house in a bit to take advantage of their more civic- and holiday-minded neighborhood. I don’t have a costume, but I do have a mask I picked up years ago at Carnevale in Viareggio. (Though it’s not the one…

My grandparents.

They took these pictures of each other while they were living in Fargo, ND for a year in 1948. My grandmother still talks about how stupid cold it was there.

At Nana’s

The wedding was gorgeous and SO MUCH FUN! Logan’s on his way home and I’m in Virginia at my Nana’s apartment. Love it here.

Flickr Test Post.

Let’s see if this gorgeous bowl of matzoh ball soup from Kenny and Ziggy’s in Houston makes it onto our screens. Wow. WordPress makes that WAY easier than Typepad does. I knew TP was behind the curve in design, but in implementation, too?

Packing

For the second time in three weeks, we’re packing up for a weekend out of town. My cousin’s getting married on Saturday at the beach in Delaware. It’s funny. You’d think that after 15 months of living exclusively out of our backpacks (detailed fairly extensively over at the old blog, boots in the oven), packing…

Jimmy John’s

all right! I’m putting this “super fast delivery” to the test with a turkey sammich. It’s 12.42 and I’m just pressed the “order” button. dun dun… dun dun… dundundundundun 12.53 and nothing?! These commercials are MISLEADING. 12.56 OMG I am holding a sandwich, a pickle, and something called Thinny Chips. Thank you, JJ! Low blood…

They call ’em fingers, but I never seen ’em fing.

Trying out a new method of polish removal I’ve seen around the blogosphere. Soak cotton pads in a bit of nail polish remover, apply to fingertips, secure with rubber band, wait a few minutes and remove cotton pads and hopefully all your old polish. Verdict – it seems to work OK, though the rubber bands…

Liberry

I love our library. It’s comfortable, and there aren’t nearly as many vagrants loitering in it as there were in Chicago’s Blackstone Library, my childhood ‘berry. Austin’s North Village Library is missing the grand neoclassical columns of the Blackstone, but it has giant skylights and hybrid car parking and is just generally sunny, airy, and…
